About Tenneco Clean Air India Company
Established in 2018, Tenneco Clean Air India Limited is a subsidiary of Tenneco Inc.operating under the parent’s “Clean Air” business segment.
In India, its registered entity is Tenneco Clean Air India Private Limited (incorporated 21 December 2018) , registered at Oragadam Industrial Corridor, Sriperumbudur Taluk, Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu.
The parent company Tenneco restructured its business into four divisions in 2020: Clean Air, DRiV, Performance Solutions and Powertrain.
Tenneco Inc. is a large global OEM and aftermarket auto-components manufacturer with operations across many countries.
What business does TCAIL do (and why it matters)
- The “Clean Air” business (globally) focuses on emissions-control systems: exhaust after-treatment, particulate filters, close-coupled catalysts, urea mixing systems, thermal/heat recovery units, and acoustic/exhaust systems.
- In India, TCAIL manufactures and supplies clean-air systems, powertrain and suspension solutions to both Indian OEMs and export markets.
- Key products have included: catalytic converters, diesel particulate filters (DPFs), exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems, mufflers/exhaust pipes (as seen in export data).
- TCAIL also serves the aftermarket (via a subsidiary of Tenneco LLC) apart from the OEM business.
- Market positioning: According to a CRISIL report (cited in media), TCAIL held ~60% market share in clean-air solutions for Indian commercial-truck OEMs, ~42% for off-highway vehicles (excluding tractors), ~20% for passenger vehicles in FY24.
Why this matters for India / your blog audience
- The Indian automotive industry is under increasing regulatory pressure (emissions norms, transition to cleaner fuels/vehicles, export potential) → companies that provide critical “clean-air” / after-treatment / exhaust technologies are strategically important.
- TCAIL’s strong share in the commercial vehicles & off-highway segment positions it as a leader in a niche yet growing part of the auto-component business in India.
- For readers interested in manufacturing, supplier ecosystems, auto-component exports, or investment/industry dynamics in India, TCAIL is a compelling case study.
